North Sea heavyweights to co-chair SPE Offshore Europe 2027 conference
Serica Energy and Ithaca Energy chairs to lead strategic conference
David Latin, conference co-chair, OE27
David Latin, chair of Serica Energy and Yaniv Friedman, executive chairman of Ithaca Energy will chair the conference and the executive committee for SPE Offshore Europe 2027 (OE27) being held at P&J Live, Aberdeen from 7 to 9 September 2027.
Founded in 1973 and now one of the largest events of its kind in Europe, it brings together the international energy community to explore the full breadth of the offshore sector. The conference provides a unique platform for industry leaders, policymakers and technical experts to shape the future of Europe’s energy mix, while delivering the practical knowledge, technical expertise and market intelligence attendees need to navigate uncertainty, reduce risk and make better decisions for their businesses.
Since the last event in 2025, the energy picture in Europe remains unsettled, with geopolitics, policy, and regulatory volatility still weighing on offshore investment. The importance of renewables in the mix has continued to grow. No less than before, however, oil and gas will remain a necessary part of an integrated energy system for decades to come.
David Latin, chair of Serica Energy and conference co-chair of OE27 said: “The production of new oil and gas and the growth of renewables are entirely complementary. Homegrown oil and gas production delivers jobs, boosts economies, and comes with a lower carbon footprint than imported energy. It has never been clearer why we should choose to increase all North Sea energy sources, and this conference is an opportunity to come together and discuss the opportunities to do that.”
Yaniv Friedman, conference co-chair, OE27
Yaniv Friedman, executive chairman of Ithaca Energy and conference co-chair of OE27 said: “The UK North Sea oil and gas sector has spent long enough in a holding pattern. Fiscal and regulatory uncertainty has had a detrimental impact to long-term investment over the past few years, with the knock-on impact on jobs and skills. However the picture has moved by the time we meet in September next year, the UK North Sea needs a clear investable path forward. Investing in UK energy security should be the top of everyone’s agenda as it affects everyone, particularly in times of significant global uncertainty, and we must now bring our collective voices to share our powerful UK North Sea story. The North Sea industry is a force for good.”
The technical programme, which will be reshaped to allow for more papers and sessions than in previous editions, will be co-chaired by Irene Brekne Hamre, managing director, North Sea GeoZone, Baker Hughes and Edna Michelle Bisso Bi Mba, head of reservoir services, Harbour Energy.
