1. Facilities and Infrastructure
Proposals are sought for papers covering advances in the design, construction, operation, repair and maintenance of oil and gas processing facilities and their associated infrastructure. Topics could include subsea equipment, pipelines, fixed platforms, floating platforms, topsides and onshore facilities. Of particular interest are applications of new equipment, digital technologies or case studies focused on solutions that rejuvenate and extend existing facilities, or expand capacity in cost effective ways. Projects that would extend development and processing capability into new, more demanding environments such as Arctic regions are of particular interest.

2. New Well Technology
Proposals are sought for new well technology solutions required to optimise and enhance production and recovery in the prevailing financial, environmental and regional operational environments. This could encompass smaller/more difficult targets, deep water, remote well control, HPHT, new materials, new intervention techniques and the novel application of permanent downhole monitoring systems and intelligent completions.

3. Reservoir Management
Proposals are sought for papers describing all aspects of reservoir management, including geological, geophysical or technical methods to enhance production in (IOR/EOR) or exploration near existing facilities or better understanding of previously discovered but unexplored reservoirs. Papers describing the exploitation of unconventional resources including shale gas and heavy oil also are of increased interest. Papers may focus on integrated studies, challenges faced by multidisciplinary teams or on related topics.

4. Health Safety and Environment
Proposals are sought for papers that offer new insights into HSE management across the upstream sectors, particularly in relation to oil spill (prevention and clean up activities), human factors, emergency procedures, integration of practices into workforce operations, process safety standards, best practice performance, risk management, environment impact assessment, waste management. Case study examples of integrating HSE principles early in facilities or project design are sought. Papers illustrating how the upstream industry can learn from other industries are also sought.

5. Exploration
Proposals are sought for papers describing all aspects of exploration. This can include anything relating to new basins, unconventional gas, challenges of new frontiers, data acquisition, processing, interpretation, drilling, safety, prospect evaluation etc. Advancements and best practices both in applications of new technology and conventional methods are of interest.

6. Carbon Reduction – the Upstream Contribution
Proposals are sought for papers that address the issues which will impact Upstream operations. Areas of particular concern, could include the production of heavy oils/bitumen and other unconventional oil sources requiring energy intensive production. Of continued interest are carbon capture and storage technologies, particularly those making use of existing infrastructure or depleted reservoirs. Additionally papers addressing energy efficiency and/or use of alternative energy sources in upstream operations and regulatory issues will be welcome.
