+++Home hunt on to help meet Offshore Europe accommodation demand+++
The ongoing growth of the SPE Offshore Europe exhibition and conference means organisers are expecting this year’s event to draw even more visitors to Aberdeen and the surrounding area.
After the success of the last show in 2009 which set an all-time attendance record of more than 47,000 visitors (an 18% increase over the previous event), and reflecting a long-term rising trend for attendance at the international oil & gas trade show, organiser The Offshore Europe Partnership is looking to further improve the availability and range of accommodation being offered in and around the city to help meet demand from thousands of international exhibitors and visitors who will descend upon Europe’s energy capital in September.
Accommodation in the city and surrounding area is always heavily in demand for this global event, which will run from 6-8th September, and private rented properties are proving increasingly attractive for exhibitors and visitors, alongside the traditional range of hotels and guest houses.
The Offshore Europe Partnership has again appointed Aberdeen-based K.W.A.D Property Managers Limited to manage the rental of private homes to visitors for the duration of the exhibition period. This is the third time K.W.A.D has provided this service.
The company is now appealing for owners of private property ranging from 1 to 5 bedrooms in and around Aberdeen to register their homes for lease throughout the build-up to the show as well as the show itself. This can be done via their website at www.kwad.co.uk. There is a small charge to register a property to cover administration and inspection costs – but K.W.A.D estimates that returns for property owners will more than reimburse this. The company is happy to advise homeowners regarding the rentals charged for various types of properties, which should ideally be within a 10 mile radius of the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre (AECC) site.
Massive influx of business and investment for the Aberdeen area
Many home owners have in previous years rented out their properties for the duration of the event, thus joining the rest of Aberdeen in benefiting from the massive economic gain that SPE Offshore Europe brings to the whole area.
Elaine Hulse, Event Director for SPE Offshore Europe, commented: “We are looking to ensure that exhibitors and visitors have as good and positive an experience as possible when staying in Aberdeen for the show. We have been consistently increasing the number of international visitors in recent events, and we expect to continue this trend as its reputation as a global forum for oil and gas professionals grows. This continued growth, however, means that we need to make sure that no one is deterred from attending due to a potential lack of quality accommodation.
“We constantly examine new solutions to further evolve the event and ensure that the local area continues to benefit both directly and indirectly from SPE Offshore Europe’s success. This includes being able to offer as wide and hospitable a choice of places for visitors to stay as possible, to supplement the city’s hotels and guest houses.”
The main theme for this year’s forward-looking conference is ‘Securing Safe, Smart, Sustainable Supply’. SPE Offshore Europe is the largest upstream oil and gas event outside North America, and is held every 2 years. The last edition in 2009 broke all-time attendance records and saw the largest-ever exhibition area, with 1,421 companies participating from around the world.
The biennial conference and exhibition is organised by The Offshore Europe Partnership, a joint venture between Reed Exhibitions Ltd. and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
