Elisabeth Proust is the Managing Director of Total E&P UK Limited.
Elisabeth graduated in Mechanics & Marine Hydrodynamics in 1979 from the Mechanical Engineering School (ENSM) in Nantes. In 1980 she obtained a degree in Petroleum Engineering at the French Petroleum Institute (ENSPM) in Paris.
She joined the Elf Aquitaine (now Total) group as Junior Drilling Supervisor the same year (1980).
From 1981 to 1987 she worked in various affiliates of the company in Cameroun, Brazil, Angola and France (Pau) as Drilling Supervisor (offshore), Drilling Supervisor (deep offshore), Drilling Engineer, and Subsea specialist respectively.
She was Head of Drilling Engineering in Pau from 1987 to 1989, before moving to the Netherlands where she held technical and managerial positions up to 1997 as Head of Non-Operated Follow-up, Head of Development for Operated Assets, and Project Manager for the K5 Central complex.
From 1997 to 2004, Elisabeth was responsible for technical evaluation of new assets, Project Manager for New Business in Russia, and Production and Operations Manager in the Netherlands.
Between 2004 and 2008, she was Vice President Development Engineering and Head of Petroleum Engineering Competence for Total worldwide, and in December 2008, was appointed President & General Manager for Total E&P Indonesia, and President of the Oil & Gas Association of Indonesia. She served in this capacity until 2013.
In February 2014, Elisabeth became the first female Managing Director & Chief Executive of the Total Upstream companies in Nigeria. She was also the Group Representative for all Total subsidiaries in Nigeria and President of the Oil and Gas Association OPTS .
In November 2015 Elisabeth took up her current role as Managing Director of Total E&P UK. She is also Group Representative for all Total subsidiaries in UK.
Born 2nd January 1957, she is married to Pieter Van Heeswijk; they have 5 children. In April 2014 the French Government awarded her the Légion d'Honneur.
